3.5.10 Grocery Trips

2010 March 5
by Thankfully Thrifty

Today I went to Kroger, Whole Foods, and Target. I bought a couple other non-grocery items at Target and some food for a community party we’re having Sunday night. But as for our grocery shopping, here is what I bought…

WHOLE FOODS

Steaz 62 oz. at $3.49

I saw this and had to buy it! LOVE Steaz, and this large container is more economical. With Target pricing their 16 oz cans at $1.09, it would be $4.36 for 62 oz. Plus with this container we are less likely to drink 16 oz in one sitting, so it also lasts longer!

R.W. Knudsen juice, on sale from $2 (Normally $3.69+)

Note: The R.W. Knudsen juices on sale at Whole Foods are the natural ones, not the organic. The other ones in the picture from Kroger are organic.

Crofter’s Organic Superfruit Spread at $4.49

-FREE MC from their Facebook Superbowl promo

=FREE

Conventional strawberries, on sale for $3 (Org. $4)

-$1 Driscoll’s produce MC (Coupon was on their site awhile ago. No longer available.)

=$2

Natural Rancher’s chicken breasts at $9.99

-$1 Whole Foods coupon (From the Whole Deal available at the front of the store or check out)

=$8.99

Why buy this when I could get “natural” meat cheaper somewhere else? I support Whole Foods’ meat policy.

Total before sales and coupons: $25.66

After: $16.48

KROGER

Two R.W. Knudsen juices at $4.49 each, on sale for BOGO

=2/$4.49

I paid about 25 cents more per bottle as compared to Whole Foods, but these bottles are organic.

Four Brown Cow Greek Yogurts, on sale “manager’s special,” meaning it’s near “sell by” date, for 79 cents each (Org. $1.50)

Two Yoplait Greek Yogurts, also “manager’s special” at 59 cents each (Org. $1.20)

-Two MC’s – one for 30 cents (x3! = 90 cents) and one for 55 cents (Print here.)

=better than free, 36 cents overage

Total before sales and coupons: $16.18

After: $7.31

TARGET

Skippy peanut butter at $2.09

-40 cents MC

=$1.69

This is for my dog! I would have used this coupon at Kroger, where they would double it, but I think Target’s price was still better.

Rimmel eye liner at $4.14

-$3 MC from this month’s All You magazine

=$1.14

Total before: $6.23

After: $2.83
