Coupon Lingo

Some of you have asked about the coupon lingo that I use, so I thought I would clarify. Hope this helps! Always ask if you have questions.

Sunday coupon inserts:

  • P&G = Procter and Gamble
  • RP = Red Plum
  • SS = Smart Source

BOGO = Buy one, get one free. Sometimes though I may specify “BOGO 1/2 off,” in which case the second item is not free but half price. If it just says “BOGO,” the second item is FREE!

B2G1 = Same concept as buy one, get one free, but this time you have to buy 2 in order to get the free item.

Cat = Catalina coupon. These are those coupons dispensed at the register, with your receipt. They are specific to items you buy.

MC = Manufacturer’s coupon. I specify this because some coupons are store specific and can only be used at that particular store. MC’s can be used at any store that accepts coupons.

OOP = Out of pocket cost; what I paid after coupons, rebates, etc.

WYB = When you buy
