Green Pasture #Giveaway – 3 winners!

13 Flares 13 Flares ×

Earlier this week I posted about my favorite super food – fermented cod liver oil! The list of reasons why I take it is extensive, and includes vitamins A, D, and K to name a few. And when I learned how it is used to help prevent and treat many well-known diseases, I was sold! Who doesn’t want strong babies, kids, and parents? If daily cod liver oil will help me achieve great health, I’m all in!

That said, I’m thrilled to announce that Green Pasture is sponsoring a giveaway! Three winners will receive $30 credits to their online store to get your own FCLO! There are tons of varieties to choose from too, so you can use this credit towards the FCLO of your choosing! I know cod liver oil isn’t necessarily on the top of everyone’s shopping list, but I think once you try it, it will be! So I can’t tell you how excited I am for three of you to get the opportunity to try some FCLO yourselves!

Hello, Green Pasture!

I’ve already told you all about FCLO, so today I want to tell you more about Green Pasture. I mentioned on Wednesday that Green Pasture is the only manufacturer that I am aware of who ferments their cod liver oil. And it’s the fermentation process that takes cod liver oil back to it’s historical roots and allows for it to stay so rich in nutrients. Processing, on the other hand, destroys a large chunk of these nutrients. Sure companies can add vitamins back in, but then you’re dealing with fake stuff… who wants fake? For this reason, fermentation is key!

FCLO Flavors and Options

So you’re sold on the health benefits of FCLO and the need to take the fermented stuff, let’s talk taste. Straight, non-flavored FCLO is certainly an option. It’s not one I would recommend, simply because it is beyond yucky. Still if that floats your boat, go for it! Otherwise, if you still want to try to take the straight FCLO, you have two other options – arctic mint and cinnamon tingle. We have the cinnamon tingle, and it’s not bad. Once the stuff has been refrigerated, it solidifies a bit (in the same way coconut oil does – goes from liquid to a buttery consistency), which makes it easy to put some on a spoon, put it on the back of my tongue, and swallow it, without tasting it too much. So the bit I do taste isn’t bad! (Side note: Before you call me out for taking the straight stuff when I said in my last post I had never been gutsy enough to do it, let me explain. I put some straight FCLO on a spoon to give my toddler, but naturally she refused. So then I had to eat it myself to show her how good it was. Parents, you know the drill. But the lesson I learned – it’s not that bad!)

If you still aren’t feeling gutsy enough to try the straight stuff, I don’t blame you. I actually have been taking the capsules for months! These come in non-flavored, which I take, orange, and orange oslo. I have not tried the last two, but the first doesn’t taste bad at all, in my opinion. Not sure why you would need a flavored capsule. The flavor is already sealed up, so it’s like taking a normal vitamin capsule!

Finally, you also have the option to take a butter/cod liver oil blend. When Weston Price did much of his research on FCLO, he always gave it in conjunction with high vitamin butter oil. It was when FCLO was combined with the high vitamin butter oil, which contains vitamin K2, that the impressive results were displayed. To obtain this naturally, your diet should include good quality butter from grass-fed cows, fat from grass-fed animals, cheeses from grass-fed animals and duck or goose liver. We try to eat meat from grass-fed animals and drink raw cow’s milk, so this should already be in my diet, which is why I take the plain FCLO capsules, rather than a butter oil/FCLO blend. Still I know most people do not drink raw milk or eat grass-fed meat, which is why Green Pasture offers this blend. These butter/cod liver oil blends come in non-flavored, chocolate cream, cinnamon tingle, and non-flavored capsules.
